''Apparuit iam beatitudo vestra.''

After their tumultuous journey, filled with drama like the one in Dante's Paradise, we finally witness the real epilogue of Gabriel and Julia's story. Their new life is just beginning, yet Gabriel's Inferno demands a spectacular ending.

After a very hard and emotional birth, we reunite with Mr. Gabriel O. Emerson, now a devoted husband, exemplary father, and amazing professor, and with his beloved "Beatrice," Julia.

Their life appears idyllic, but beneath the surface lie hidden secrets, complicating matters as Gabriel receives a prestigious invitation to lecture in Edinburgh, Scotland. This opportunity forces him to think seriously about leaving his family in Boston, a choice he's not ready to make. However, Julia's return to Harvard adds another layer of complexity, leaving her overwhelmed and scared about the perspective of taking care of their daughter, Clare, alone.

As if matters couldn't get worse, a threat emerges, endangering their newfound happiness, transforming their Paradise into a dark Inferno.

Gabriel promised to protect his family, but will he keep his promise?

I wanted this book, before it was even released, yet it sat on my shelves for years until now. The new story of Gabriel and Julia brought me immense joy, though my rating of 3.5 stars reflects the fact that I just missed them so much rather than the book's quality.

Gabriel's Promise is more like a novella, than a real ending. It's not the number of the pages, as 300 pages are enough, but rather the lack of action and dynamism. The sparkles from the first books is not really the same. The first 3 books were hot and delicious! Instead, this story focuses on the familial dynamics of Gabriel and Julia, now parents, with their daughter being the center of their universe.

While I appreciate the beautiful ending of the series, I found it lacking this spark from the first books. Nevertheless, a scene from this book is linked to other Sylvain Reynard stories and I think this was a brilliant touch.

Despite its linear action, the story still captures Gabriel's trademark sarcasm, which I enjoyed more than the actual action. I loved their relationship which was still both adorable and hot! And I think I loved the most the fact that they are finally a family, with all their loved ones around. A big, happy family.

This is a series with a special meaning for me, always part of my soul and I still love it so much, even though this book wasn't really the best. I recommend this story from the bottom of my heart, especially if you love Italy, Italian and Dante!

What can I say? Apparuit iam beatitudo vestra! And thank you so much for reading my review, darlings!
