“I’m just… so sorry I ran away! I was just freaking out like honestly I am having a proper full-on gay crisis!”
Now that Charlie and Nick are in a serious relationship, new problems start getting in the way. Charlie is dealing with an eating disorder, and Nick is trying his best to cope with his boyfriend’s struggles.
Everyone sees Charlie as a fragile teenager, but Nick can only see a strong person who has been through a lot of bullying and family problems and is going through a rough period. In Nick’s eyes, Charlie is the strongest person ever.
As soon as Charlie starts getting help and things begin to feel normal again, Charlie and Nick are ready to take their relationship to another level. The hand-holding and kisses turn into heated make-out sessions, and all they want is to take the next step in their love.
But this can also be challenging, especially when Nick is stressed about college applications and Charlie is anything but confident about his skinny body.
Problems after problems and different stages in their lives, but all they know is that they love each other.
And they are Nick and Charlie. They will get through anything!
You know I am obsessed with Nick and Charlie. I love them so much, and I couldn’t wait to read these volumes. I love the development of their story and the new challenging steps that appear in their way.
I love the wide range of topics Alice Oseman talks about in this series, topics many people would be afraid to address.
The 4th volume was a rollercoaster of emotions and the saddest part of the series, but the 5th volume was the one I was most excited for!
Nick and Charlie are amazing characters, and even though they are portrayed as teenagers, they are clever and deal with their lives with maturity. The things they go through are typical schoolboy experiences, but these comics are written so well that you don’t even realize when you’ve finished the entire series.
I loved these volumes and I can’t wait to read the next one, and I hope we will have Nick’s and Charlie’s story for a long time from now!
And if you are a fan of LGBTQ books, you will love Oseman's story with all the funny and cute illustrations!
Thank you for reading my review, darlings!
