''My mamma's words filled my head with a sense of
melancholy and the smell of her floral perfume.
~One day, you're going to be a little heartbreaker. What a terrible fate.~''

Nobody can crack Gianna’s facade . . . no one anyway, until he comes along. She fears the dark.
He rules it. Gianna is already in a third marriage and after her very old husband will die, she swears she will never marry again. And hopefully, she will never fall in love again.

But that was before Christian Allister showed up and stole her heart, her mind, her life. She is a problematic woman, always hiding a panic attack, always laughing and wearing a happy mask behind she hides the chaos.

Even though she is one of the most beautiful and desirable woman, she can't allow anyone to crack her shield, forcing her to love again. Love...isn't this the maddest obsession?

But Christian Allister, the handsome agent, the man from the mafia, the darkness in person, is ready to keep Gianna for himself for the rest of his life. Only she needs to find out she is mad about him as much as he is about her.

How hard can it be to get into Gianna's heart? Everything changed one night. They became inseparable. But how can they see the relationship between them more than a simple physical attraction?

Everything is about to change. And what can you do if you discover that the Maddest Obsession is, in fact, loving someone and not just wanting that person because of a selfish reason?

I was disappointed to read this volume after the amazing beginning of this series. I didn't know how to compare these two stories. Sweet Oblivion was an addictive story, an amazing mafia story and I loved it so, so much! It kept me asleep and I read it like I was breathing, immediately, without stopping. It was amazing.

Then I started reading this and I was like ''Meh, ok, maybe it gets better". Well, it didn't. I don't know why I was so disappointed because Danielle Lori wrote this book in the same manner as she did with the first one. But the story and the scenes were boring.

I didn't see the sparkles between Gianna and Christian, especially because I was comparing their story with Elena and Nico's story. Maddest Obsession lacked charm and dynamism. Even the attraction between them and their whole love story was a cliche.

I liked some scenes and I liked so much that he was Russian. I loved her nickname and I loved the lines written in Russian. That was the little sparkle of the story. Otherwise, the whole book was a cliche.

Maybe for someone who didn't read Cora Reilly's books this is a mafia masterpiece. Not for me, of course. Especially when the first book was so good! I am curious about the rest of the series and maybe I will give it a chance. Not now, because I need to read a good book after this little disappointment.

But I hope you will love this book and all this series and thank you so much for reading my review, guys! I hope you have an amazing December!
